🇮🇹 LA VITA NASCOSTA… IN DIO
I.
Settimana scorsa, con i confratelli della comunità, abbiamo visto il bellissimo film di Terrence Malick “La vita nascosta” che ha vinto un premio al festival di Cannes nel 2019, fu proiettato anche in Vaticano, e avrebbe dovuto uscire nelle sale nell’aprile dell’anno scorso ma dovuto alla pandemia...
Questo film, con scene bellissime e una fotografia straordinaria, racconta gli ultimi anni della vita di Franz Jägerstätter un contadino austriaco obiettore di coscienza, ucciso per essersi rifiutato, a motivo della sua fede cattolica, di giurare fedeltà a Hitler e di andare in guerra. Fu proclamato beato da Papa Benedetto XVI nel 2007.
II.
Il contadino Franz, dopo una gioventù un po’ turbolenta, si avvicinò alla fede, si sposò, ebbe dei bambini. Quando fu chiamato alle armi negò di giurare fedeltà a Hitler perché riteneva ingiusto uccidere tante vite innocenti. Questo causò una reazione dura da parte di tutti, della sua comunità, del sindaco, dei familiari. Anche il vescovo e il parroco tentarono di dissuaderlo e convincerlo a tornare indietro per il bene della sua famiglia. Tutti erano contro di lui, meno sua moglie, che pur sapendo delle conseguenze persecutorie contro la sua famiglia, gli disse: “Qualsiasi cosa farai, io sarò con te. Sempre” e aggiunse “Fa’ ciò che ritieni giusto”.
III.
In una delle scene, dopo i ripetuti maltrattamenti e torture, un ufficiale gli disse di firmare la sua ritrattazione e così sarebbe stato libero. Ma lui, più morto che vivo per botte ricevute e con le catene alle mani e ai piedi, rispose: “io sono libero”. A chi gli diceva che bisognava obbedire, fare come tutti gli altri, rispose: “Non posso fare ciò che per me è sbagliato! Dobbiamo combattere il male!” e “Se Dio ci ha dato il libero arbitrio, siamo responsabili di cosa facciamo e di cosa non facciamo!”
IV.
Se tutti avessero fatto come lui, Hitler non avrebbe potuto commettere nessun crimine. Il male per vincere ha bisogno di complici. Da solo non può fare nulla. Al contrario, il bene vince anche da solo; potrà essere soffocato per un tempo, e addirittura ucciso, ma sempre risorgerà. Come Gesù. Come San Oscar Romero, il martire latinoamericano proclamato Santo da Papa Francesco, che disse: “Nessun soldato è tenuto ad obbedire ad un ordine contrario alla Legge di Dio” e “Mi uccideranno, ma risorgerò nel mio popolo”.
Se oggi nel mondo tutti facessero questa scelta del beato Franz e piuttosto di uccidere si lasciassero uccidere, non ci sarebbero più guerre nel mondo.
V.
Ho voluto ricordare questi santi martiri oggi nel giorno di Pasqua, perché anche loro hanno patito, sono stati uccisi e sono risuscitati come Gesù. Sono i Cristi del nostro tempo, che hanno imitato Gesù il quale ci insegna che dobbiamo stare sempre dalla parte della verità, della giustizia, anche se tutto il mondo dicesse il contrario e si rivoltasse contro di noi. Gesù fu abbandonato da tutti, eppure erano migliaia le persone che prima lo seguivano. Ai piedi della Croce c’era solo Maria e Giovanni, certamente le persone che più amavano Gesù e erano da Lui amate. Perché chi ama davvero non abbandona mai la persona amata. Come dice quel detto: nella prosperità potrai conoscere la quantità dei tuoi amici, nella disgrazia, la qualità. La maggior parte infatti ti abbandonerà nel momento del bisogno ma i veri amici saranno sempre con te.
VI.
Gesù è risorto, perché alla fine non sarà il male, l’ingiustizia o la menzogna che vinceranno, ma il bene. Questo è di grande consolazione per tutti noi: alla fine sarà il bene a vincere, anche se sembra che il male abbia sempre il sopravvento.
La festa di Pasqua è quindi la festa della speranza che alla fine tutto si aggiusterà, e tutti i Cristi del mondo che soffrono, sono perseguitati e oppressi, saranno riscattati.
E non preoccupiamoci se la nostra vita è una vita nascosta, l’importante è che sia nascosta in Dio.
BUONA PASQUA A TUTTI.
🇵🇹 A VIDA ESCONDIDA ... EM DEUS

Semana passada, com os confrades da comunidade, vimos o lindo filme de Terrence Malick “A vida escondida” que ganhou um prêmio no Festival de Cannes em 2019, também foi exibido no Vaticano, e deveria ter sido lançado nos cinemas no mês de Abril do ano passado, mas devido à pandemia ...
Este filme, com belas cenas e fotografias extraordinárias, narra os últimos anos da vida de Franz Jägerstätter, um camponês austríaco objetor de consciência, morto por se recusar, por causa de sua fé católica, a jurar fidelidade a Hitler e a ir para a guerra. Foi beatificado pelo Papa Bento XVI em 2007.
II.
O camponês Franz, depois de uma juventude um tanto turbulenta, aproximou-se da fé, casou-se, teve filhos. Quando foi chamado às armas, ele negou ter jurado lealdade a Hitler porque sentiu que era injusto matar tantas vidas inocentes. Isso causou uma reação dura de todos, da comunidade, do prefeito, dos familiares. Até o bispo e o pároco tentaram dissuadi-lo e persuadi-lo a voltar atrás pelo bem de sua família. Todos estavam contra ele, exceto sua esposa, que, sabendo das consequências da perseguição contra sua família, disse-lhe: “Faça o que fizer, eu estarei com você. Sempre" e acrescentou "Faça o que achar certo".
III.
Numa das cenas, após repetidos maus-tratos e torturas, um policial disse-lhe para assinar sua retratação e ele estaria livre. Mas ele, mais morto do que vivo pelos golpes recebidos e com correntes nas mãos e nos pés, respondeu: "Eu sou livre". Para aqueles que lhe disseram que ele tinha que obedecer, fazer como todo mundo, ele respondeu: “Eu não posso fazer o que é errado para mim! Temos que lutar contra o mal! " e "Se Deus nos deu o livre arbítrio, somos responsáveis pelo que fazemos e pelo que não fazemos!"

Se todos tivessem agido como ele, Hitler não teria cometido nenhum crime. Para vencer, o mal precisa de cúmplices. Sozinho, ele não pode fazer nada. Ao contrário, o bem vence mesmo sozinho, pode ser sufocado por um tempo e até morto, mas sempre se levantará novamente. Como Jesus. Como São Oscar Romero, o mártir latino-americano proclamou santo pelo Papa Francisco, que disse: "Nenhum soldado é obrigado a obedecer a uma ordem contrária à Lei de Deus" e "Eles vão me matar, mas eu ressuscitarei de novo no meu povo ".
Se todos no mundo hoje fizessem a escolha do Bem-aventurado Franz e se deixassem matar ao invés de matar, não haveria mais guerras no mundo.
V.
Queria recordar estes santos mártires hoje no dia de Páscoa, porque também eles sofreram, foram mortos e ressuscitados como Jesus, são os Cristos do nosso tempo, que imitaram Jesus que nos ensina que devemos estar sempre ao lado da verdade, da justiça, mesmo que o mundo inteiro dissesse o contrário e se voltasse contra nós. Jesus foi abandonado por todos, mas milhares de pessoas o seguiram primeiro. Ao pé da cruz estavam apenas Maria e João, certamente as pessoas que mais amavam Jesus e eram por ele amadas. Porque quem ama de verdade nunca abandona a pessoa amada. Como diz o ditado: “na prosperidade você saberá a quantidade de seus amigos, na desgraça, a qualidade”. Na verdade, a maioria vai abandoná-lo em momentos de necessidade, mas verdadeiros amigos sempre estarão com você.
TU.
Jesus ressuscitou, porque no final não será o mal, a injustiça ou a mentira que vai vencer, mas o bem. Este é um grande consolo para todos nós: no final será o bem a vencer, mesmo que pareça que o mal sempre prevalece.
A festa da Páscoa é, portanto, a festa da esperança de que no final tudo dará certo e todos os Cristos do mundo que sofrem, são perseguidos e oprimidos, serão resgatados.
E não vamos nos preocupar se nossa vida é uma vida escondida, o importante é que ela está escondida em Deus.

🇬🇧 THE HIDDEN LIFE ... IN GOD
I.
Last week, with the confreres of the community, we saw the beautiful film by Terrence Malick "The hidden life" which won an award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019, was also screened in the Vatican, and should have been released in cinemas in April of last year but due to the pandemic ...
This film, with beautiful scenes and extraordinary photography, tells the last years of the life of Franz Jägerstätter, an Austrian peasant conscientious objector, killed for refusing, because of his Catholic faith, to swear fidelity to Hitler and to go to war. He was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007.
II.
The farmer Franz, after a turbulent youth, approached the faith, got married, had children. When he was called to arms he denied swearing fidelity to Hitler because he felt it was unfair to kill so many innocent lives. This caused a harsh reaction from everyone, from his community, from the mayor, from family members. Even the bishop and the parish priest tried to dissuade him and persuade him to go back for the sake of his family. Everyone was against him, except his wife, who, knowing of the persecutory consequences against his family, told him: “Whatever you do, I will be with you. Always" and she added "Do what you think is right".
III.
In one of the scenes, after repeated mistreatment and torture, an officer told him to sign his retraction and he would be free. But he, more dead than alive from blows received and with chains on his hands and feet, replied: "I am free". To those who told him that he had to obey, do like everyone else, he replied: “I can't do what is wrong for me! We have to fight evil! " and "If God has given us free will, we are responsible for what we do and what we don't do!"
IV.
If everyone had done like him, Hitler could not have committed any crime. To win, evil needs accomplices. He alone he can not do anything. On the contrary, the good also wins on its own; it may be suffocated for a time, and even killed, but it will always rise again. Like Jesus. Like St. Oscar Romero, the Latin American martyr proclaimed a saint by Pope Francis, who said: "No soldier is required to obey an order contrary to the Law of God" and "They will kill me, but I will rise again in my people".
If everyone in the world today made this choice of Blessed Franz and let themselves be killed rather than kill, there would be no more wars in the world.
V.
I wanted to remember these holy martyrs today on Easter day, because they too suffered, were killed and resurrected like Jesus. They are the Christs of our time, who imitated Jesus who teaches us that we must always be on the side of the truth, of justice, even if the whole world said the opposite and turned against us. Jesus was abandoned by all, yet there were thousands of people who first followed him. At the foot of the Cross there was only Mary and John, certainly the people who loved Jesus most and were loved by him. Because those who truly love never abandon their loved one. As that saying goes: “in prosperity you will know the quantity of your friends, in misfortune, the quality”. In fact, most will abandon you in time of need but true friends will always be with you.
VI..
Jesus is risen, because in the end it will not be evil, injustice or lies that will win, but good. This is a great consolation for all of us: in the end it will be good to win, even if it seems that evil always prevails.
The feast of Easter is therefore the feast of hope that in the end everything will be fine, and all the Christs of the world who suffer, are persecuted and oppressed, will be redeemed.
And let's not worry if our life is a hidden life, the important thing is that it is hidden in God.
